This sculpture was sparked by a nightly habit—cleaning my eyes with a Q-tip—and noticing how much of girlhood is made of small, invisible maintenance. The girl, curled inside an oyster shell & cradling a pearl, is built entirely from thousands of Q-tips: each dyed in dilutions of ink and saltwater mixed to the salinity of tears.
